Special Notes: 2019 The Longest Day
a worldwide fundraiser to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's
The Longest Day is the day with the most light -- the summer solstice. On June 21, thousands of participants come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through an activity of their choice. Together, they use their creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
While we have community partners hosting happy hours, cookouts, movie nights, concerts, and so much more on and around June 21, you should know there is an exciting new partnership -- Mah Jongg for Memories.
Mahjong groups across the country will be dedicating their regular play-days to the Alzheimer's Association by making donations to the cause. Also, other players will be holding more elaborate and larger day-long fundraising events. Some will have lunch and silent auctions, while others will enjoy snacks and donate their day's winnings. All, however, will combine the fun and challenge of Mahjong with the objective of ending Alzheimer's, the all-consuming disease that threatens the mental ability of every Mahjong player.
Across the country, Mahjong groups are trying to collectively raise $25,000, led by Mahjong player Jenelle Schatz (jenelle.schatz@gmail.com).
She can quickly help you or others register for this event online. If you have questions or would like more information about Mah Jongg for Memories, please contact by email. Let's get "crakking" to have some fun and fight Alzheimer's at the same time!
